Getting started
How much does the comparison cost?
Nothing. Your comparison is completely free and there's no obligation to switch.
What do you need from me?
Just a copy of your latest card payment statement and ten minutes of your time. We'll take it from there.
Do I have to change my card machines to save money?
No. You don't have to change your machines to benefit from lower costs — sometimes the saving is in the rates alone.
Payments on the go
We run an event marquee with a bar. Portable card machine or mobile terminals?
It depends on whether guests buy from their table. At formal events where people stay seated, mobile terminals work brilliantly. For social events like weddings or gigs, a portable machine at the bar is ideal.
How does a mobile card reader work?
It has its own SIM card and connects over the mobile network, so you can take payments anywhere with signal — festivals, markets, conferences or on the road.
Is a portable card machine worth it if I already have a till?
If you have seating — a café, pub or restaurant — yes. Taking payment at the table speeds things up and feels like better service. If customers always come to the counter, you probably don't need one.
Technical support
I run a busy shop. How long does the changeover take?
We arrange a day and time that suits you so you can keep trading. The work usually takes around an hour before we're ready to test.
What support do I get if my card machine goes wrong?
You'll get training on basic troubleshooting when we install. If that doesn't fix it, you have 24/7 UK-based support — and your Associate's mobile number for emergencies.
What is an integrated POS system and do I need one?
It means your tills and card machines all talk to each other, so your end-of-day figures add up. It can also link to stock control and kitchen ordering. Useful if you have more than one till or a portable machine.
Funding
How does a merchant cash advance work?
You receive a lump sum, and repay it as an agreed share of your future card takings. Busy month, you repay faster. Quiet month, you repay less.
Are you a broker?
No. UK Business Buddy acts solely as a sourcing service, introducing you to merchant cash advance providers. We don't give financial advice.
Working with us
How do I become an appointment setter?
It's self-employed, flexible and paid on results — you earn for every signed contract you helped make happen. There's some calling, but absolutely no hard selling.
What does a UK Business Buddy Associate do?
Associates meet business owners, compare their statements with our alternatives and present the savings. No pushy sales. Get in touch if you'd like to join.
Convinced we'll make you smile?
Send us your latest card statement. We'll show you exactly what you could save — free, no obligation.
